Term 2 Te Angitu Ngātahi Awards

Congratulations to all students who received certificates at the end-of-term celebration assemblies today. Special mention goes to the following students who received Te Angitu Ngātahi Awards - these are significant awards recognising those who always go above and beyond to put their best foot forward, promoting our school values and being great role models to their peers. Students were nominated by staff in recognition of upholding the school values and working to their full potential.

Year 13
Nominees: Etoile Simard, Phuong Ahn Bui, Drew Clemas
Winner: Drew Clemas - For being an active member of the GBHS community. Talented, personable and VERY passionate. On and off the sports field, Drew clearly demonstrates our vision of Te Angitu Ngātahi - Succeding Together. Drew is not only a participant, but a captain, coach and referee; showing his willingness to give back to sport and the school community. This winter season, Drew is playing squash, basketball and rugby for school which has allowed him to excel further within his sporting endeavours external to GBHS. As a New Zealand Representative in not one, but two age group teams we must acknowledge the effort and determination this sportsman dedicates to his multitude of trades. A selfless and charismatic leader who gives his own time, energy and resources to keep the world of sport revolving here at Green Bay High School.

Year 12
Nominees: Tui Harvey-Jansen, Max Marvin, Elena Brunt, Lily Wood, Jahkoby Mataupu, Mata Tikao, Olivia Tukia
Winner: Elena Brunt - For consistently working at an excellent level across all of her subjects. Her passion for Science shines through in her exceptional academic performance.Elena possesses a remarkable ability to grasp complex concepts quickly and apply them effectively, actively engaging in class and consistently contributing to class discussions. Elena regularly takes on a leadership role in Physics during group work and experiments, supporting her peers to succeed. Her enthusiasm for Science is contagious, inspiring her peers to develop a similar love for the subject. Having also attended a leadership program run by Sisters United earlier this yea, Elena is now mentors some of our junior female Pasifika students with the goal of increasing their wellbeing and self-confidence. Elena is an exceptional student who makes Green Bay High School a better place for everyone.

Year 11
Nominees: Alexis Heckler, Ben Brandon, Joe McPherson, Amaria Williams, Leandro Melo, Alice Nguyen, Cherry Zhang
Winner: Amaria Williams is a student who has, over the last two and a half years, developed into a confident, positive young person. This year it has become much more prominent. This student devotes all her time and energy to helping her peers succeed in class as well as ensuring that she herself follows the path of excellence. The results of her mahi are evident in the results of her peers that she works with. She is courageous, respectful and a supportive tauira at all times. Well done Amaria!

Year 10
Nominees: Mysha Azimullah, Kristina Vinkovic, Emelia Queenin, Max McGregor, Kristina Vinkovic, Bella Wood, Lily Roebeck, Jessica Layton
Winners: Lily Roebeck and Bella Wood for their organisation, promotion and participation in the Give-A-Kid-A-Blanket campaign to provide warmth for children in the community who may otherwise struggle through the winter.

Year 9
Nominees: Isla Clayton, Juneve K, TJ Cheok, Abe Duncan, Sophie Senior, Madison Brokenshire, Maddy Seth
Winner: TJ Cheok is an exceptional young man, who has the best interests of others at heart. He is well organised, manages himself well in all aspects of his learning, and is incredibly helpful. TJ will go out of his way to help teachers and students. He is kind and compassionate but fiercely competitive. He is encouraging his peers to participate in a way that is mature and respectful.
