Green Bay High School Jazz Groups Shine at National Jazz Festival!
Green Bay High School Jazz groups have once again made their mark at the Secondary Schools National Jazz Festival in Tauranga held from 4-7 April.
Schools from all over New Zealand came together to compete at the highest level, with each group playing a 20-minute set in front of eminent jazz judges.
Two Green Bay High School Jazz combos, Green Note and the Thomas Christie Quartet, showcased their exceptional talent and delivered by far their best performances yet. They impressed the judges and earned recognition for their outstanding musicianship. Green Note received a Silver award, while the Thomas Christie Quartet was awarded a Gold, placing both groups among the top 30 performers in the country.
This is an enormous achievement for the students of these two groups, who put in countless hours of practice and preparation to deliver such remarkable performances. Congratulations to Celestia Chia-Evans, Thomas Christie, Ben Hammond, Will McIntosh, Sean Rolfe, Finn Scholes and Bruno Zeman, who demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication.
We would also like to extend a special thanks to their formidable director, David Edmundson. His leadership, guidance, and expertise have been instrumental in shaping the students' musical abilities and bringing out their best.
Green Bay High School is incredibly proud of these students' achievements and the hard work and dedication that went into them. We are confident that they will continue to excel in their musical pursuits and make us proud. Congratulations once again to everyone involved!
