Mila Howlett and Zuli Wade (Year 12)
Term break may be a time to recharge and refresh for many, however Mila and Zuli intend to (literally) engage their brain matter, as part of the Barcelona International Youth Science (BIYSC) two-week international science program.
Having departed New Zealand bright and early this morning (30 June) Mila and Zuli are looking forward to settling into the student accommodation at the Research Centre, before begininng their work alongside leading researchers discovering the ever-changing weird and wonderful world of science.
Mila says she is looking forward to being in the labs working alongside scientists, and taking part in some cutting-edge research alongside active researchers. As well as attending scientific lectures, participating in scientific discussions and vsiting some of the top International Research Centers in Catalonia, Mila and Zuli will also take part in scientific and cultural excursions.
GBHS Science teacher Dr Angelo Tedoldi, who encouraged students to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, says Mila and Zuli will be part of developing research projects, taking part in some cutting-edge research alongside active researchers.
Zuli will be working alongside scientists investigating brain stem research and Mila will be working with scientists studying neurology and brain function.
This is an amazing experience and we are so proud and excited for the both of them, and look forward to hearing more from them upon their return to school, next term!
