STEAMing Ahead:
Green Bay High School students Lila Brunt (Year 11), Olivia Tukia (Year 13) and Arah-Lucias Vaega (Year 10) are STEAMing ahead with a Ministry for Pacific Peoples Toloa Secondary School Scholarship (valued up to $2000) towards school fees, stationary, uniform items, and any other compulsory items for 2024, as well as a refurbished Chromebook provided by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples.
As part of their scholarship application, students had to submit their aspirations. Arah-Lucias has a keen eye for the Arts and enjoys developing her interests in Art and Digital Technology. Lila has a scientific mind, is taking "double science" classes this year (ie: all science courses offered at Year 11) and has her sights set on further study in L3 and University. Olivia has a passion for helping people with the land and is looking forward to studying Engineering and/or Geophysics at university next year.
Toloa scholarships are awarded nationwide to 250 Pacific secondary school recipients and 50 Pacific tertiary students to support them on their Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) journey to gain qualifications and employment. Arah-Lucias, Lila and Olivia will also receive ongoing wellbeing and support throughout the year delivered by Le Va, and an invitation to the Toloa Awards ceremony later this year.
