DYNAMIC DUO: Charlotte and Bella Soland (Year 10 students)...
Charlotte and Bella Soland (Year 10 students) are passing the baton of hope in support of cancer research, as part of NZ Cancer Society's biggest fundraising event: Relay for Life.
This event is very poignant for twins Charlotte and Bella, whose mum is a proud cancer survivor.
Raising awareness and support for those who are fighting their own battles, or have lost loved ones to cancer, Relay For Life aims to provide funds for ground-breaking cancer research, vital prevention programmes and support networks.
"Our mum did Relay for Life with a bunch of her friends, who were supporting her on her journey when we were younger," says Bella.
With the school vision of Te Angitu Ngātahi - Succeeding Together in mind, the girls approached Deputy Principal Elaine Webb with the idea of creating a team from GBHS to take part, working together for a good cause.
"This is something we are really passionate about, and we are excited to be putting together a team from school to help raise funds and awareness," says Charlotte.
Held at the AUT Millennium Stadium, on Saturday 6 April 2024, the Relay for Life has several fun activities and events taking place while teams work together to keep the baton in motion for 12 hours.
