Daylight Saving Ends
Thursday, 4th April 2024 at 9:50am
Remember to put your clocks BACK an hour this Sunday!
In Aotearoa, Daylight Saving starts each year at 2am on the last Sunday in September (Spring) and ENDS at 3am on the first Sunday in April (Autumn/Fall).
Handy Hint: Remember to SPRING FORWARD and FALL BACK
Aotearoa/New Zealand first moved the clocks forward in Spring, 1927 - however, here is a fun fact for you: according to Māori myth and legend, Whakaora Awatea/Daylight Saving was brought about by Maui when he and his brothers captured Tamanuiterā, the sun, slowing it down in order to make the days longer, allowing people more time during the day to complete their daily tasks.
