Ruby Livesey and Issy Firth's Tongariro Trek For close cousins, Ruby and Issy, setting challenges helps them to lead to a dynamic, healthy lifestyle - and when it involves taking in some of Aotearoa's spectacular sights and sounds, this makes it all the more memorable!
Last weekend Ruby (Year 9) and Issy (Year 10) trekked across the volcanic alpine landscape as part of a guided group, between Mount Tongariro and Mount Ngauruhoe, through the South Crater and climbed the Red Crater. "A definite highlight was the sheer cliff drops, and amazing views," says Issy. "And spending time together, making memories," added Ruby.
This challenging and physical adventure was just one of the 'expeditions' the cousins have done together, with their mums by their side - and say it is becoming part of a family tradition to take time-out.
This is such a fantastic idea!
