BLAKE Inspire

Jacob Kite (Year 11) is preparing to take part in an amazing environmental leadership programme over the term break.
Jacob was successful in his application for the BLAKE Inspire programme, a week-long residential leadership development programme run by the (Sir Peter) Blake foundation for inspirational young leaders, in partnership with the Ministry for the Environment.
This is a huge accomplishment, with 300 students applying and only a select few making the cut. Jacob says if it wasn't for the help he received from his very supportive teachers he may not have made it in. Part of the application process was to provide letters of support and a video submisson outlining why he thought the BLAKE programme was for him.
"I'm looking forward to meeting other people my age and developing my leadership skills" says Jacob (pictured here with whaea Leanne). "It will be good to bring some knowledge back to school and share information about how we can do our part to preserve our taiao (nature and environment)".
Jacob volunteers so much of his time toward helping young Scouts as a Senior Leader, he always comes to the forefront when it comes to supporting anything Te Ao Māori at Green Bay High School, and absolutely loves the great outdoors.
As part of this week long experience (17-21 April, in Waikato) Jacob will work alongside scientists, environmental experts, and a diverse range of leaders and other like-minded students in order to further develop his leadership skills, while learning about topical environmental issues and how to encourage peers to take positive action.
