Kia ora e te whānau,
Across the week, we have experienced an increase in the number of Green Bay High School students and staff being impacted by Omicron. We are now in the situation where our staffing is significantly impacted by staff illness and we will need to introduce measures to ensure the school continues to function effectively.
It is likely different Year Levels will be rotated to learning from home for one day per week in the near future. Additional information will be forwarded to parents and students, if this becomes necessary.
Change for next week - Teacher Only Day Wednesday, March 2nd On Wednesday, March 2nd we will have a Teacher Only Day to enable teachers to prepare for hybrid learning. This will replace the current Teacher Only Day that is scheduled for March 9th.
The expectation is that students will be completing work on their Google Classroom during this day. If you/your child needs to be supervised during the Teacher Only Day, please email Associate Principal Chris Woodward.
Attending school While we have had positive Covid cases in our school community along with a significant number of close and household contacts who have needed to isolate at home, at this point in time, there is nothing to suggest that we have any cases that have resulted from transmission within our school setting.
The move to Phase 3 at 11.59pm on Thursday night means that only confirmed cases and their household contacts will be required to isolate. We encourage all students who are well and not needing to self-isolate, to be in school.
As always, it is really important that during the next few weeks that If students start to feel unwell, they need to stay home and get tested. The availability of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) will provide a much more efficient testing time frame for people.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ngā mihi nui, Fiona Barker PRINCIPAL
