National Top Volunteer and winner of SVA’s first ever Next Steps grant!
Congratulations to Louie Miller (Year 13) who has completed an incredible 2,313 hours of volunteering in 2024.
Louie has been named as this year’s Top Volunteer out of 18,000 student volunteers across Aotearoa.
Louie is also the inaugural recipient of the $1,000 Next Steps Grant.
SVA's November newsletter states "Louie has spent the vast majority of his hours of service volunteering with Fire & Emergency New Zealand. Since being selected out of 40 candidates at a rigorous recruitment day, he has attended two trainings a week as well as regular call-outs – from ducks stuck down a drain to medical emergencies, motor incidents, and house fires. We couldn’t be prouder of him, and we can’t wait to see what he goes on to do next!"
In March earlier this year GBHS featured an article on Louie, having completed 500 hours of volunteer work and receiving the Gold VSA award. With his latest accomplishment, that amounts to over 1800 hours of volunteer work in just 7 months. Truly amazing.
