Seniors are well into their studies with first assignments being completed in some courses, summer sports going on apace and results from the various recent house events being announced. As usual, it’s been a busy week with activities beyond the school gates with the Western Zone swimming Champs, Level 3 PED students snorkelling up at the Poor Knights and Level 2 PEO students surfing at Raglan. As we are now (officially) in autumn thoughts are turning to our winter sports codes, with sign ups, musters and trials happening across multiple sports. Students who are not wanting to miss out should get down to see [Hamish Mackay](mailto:hamish.mackay@greenbayhigh.school.nz) and [Georgia Spears](mailto:georgia.spears@greenbayhigh.school.nz) in the Sports Department (or send them an email). Any members of the community keen to help out with any of the forty winter sport teams are also encouraged to get in touch. We have keen student athletes and helping them to express themselves on the court, the pitch and the field feels great - cheering them on is even fun in the rain! After quiet years of Covid-interrupted travel, we have welcomed a new group of International Students this year, and they and their host families enjoyed a BBQ get together on Wednesday. This was a chance to share stories and be excited about everyone’s new experiences in their new homes. We were even lucky to have three of our International alumni on hand to give their insights on their time at Green Bay. Any families wanting to be part of the homestay roster can contact the International Department at the school. It was great to see so many attending our NZQA Me te Whānau evening on Tuesday night. NCEA can be a complicated system to get your head around and the presenter from NZQA gave an overview of both the qualification and our school systems and processes. Many of our senior students will have started internal assessments which will be due before the end of term - thank you for supporting them at home.
