Playing as Centre for the Auckland …" --- U14 Ice Hockey Rep Neko Beard-Bot ![neko](https://greenbayhigh.school.nz/images/4/d/0/9/8/4d098a92a13f273d314508e63a0fc08d75b22082-neko-ice-hockey.jpg "neko") # U14 Ice Hockey Rep Thursday, 10th October 2024 at 7:30am #### Congratulations to Neko Beard-Bot (Year 9) who captained the U14 Auckland Representative team at the National Ice Hockey tournament, during the term break - with great success. Neko's U14 team remained unbeaten and won gold - becoming National champions for 2025! Playing as Centre for the Auckland Hornets (club team) in the Auckland bantam league, Neko's winning streak continues, having also won the league championship in August earlier this year. With a passion for winter sports and skating, Neko eventually gave Ice Hockey a try, which he immediately fell in love with - and has been playing ice hockey for the past four years (three years in Auckland and one year in Canada). Neko especially enjoys the team aspects, along with the physicality. Although the season has wrapped up, Neko is now focussing on volunteering with younger players and helping to grow the sport.
