Rostering home will resume on Tuesday with Yea…' --- PPTA Strike Action Nationwide ![rolling strike](https://greenbayhigh.school.nz/images/b/c/8/d/0/bc8d09ca4d015f6ac1c58ea2804e2d543b4cccbf-rolling-strike.jpg "rolling strike") # PPTA Strike Action Monday, 13th October 2025 at 7:30am ##### Notice of PPTA industrial action Kia ora e te whānau, We have been informed over the weekend (Saturday 11 October) that secondary school teachers nationwide, who are members of the PPTA, are returning to their industrial action from Tuesday 14 October. Rostering home will resume on Tuesday with Year 9 students. **Year groups will be rostered home on particular days across Week Two on the following days:** - **Year 9: Tuesday 14 October** - **Year 10 Wednesday 15 October** - **Year 11 and 12: Thursday 16 October** - **Year 13: Friday 17 October** As part of the industrial action, across Week Two (14-17 October), teachers and staff who are PPTA members will refuse to give up scheduled planning and marking time to relieve for absent teachers or positions that are vacant. On 29 October PPTA members will not take part in extra curricular activities. NB the Migrant Hui scheduled for that night is not impacted upon by this industrial action and will still go ahead from 6pm in the staffroom. The PPTA (teaching staff) and NZEI (secondary school support staff) has also advised our board that its PPTA Te Wehengarua members covered by the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (“STCA”) and NZEI members covered by the Support Staff in Schools' Collective Agreement ("SSSCA") will hold a nationwide one-day strike on **Thursday, 23 October 2025**. The board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching and non-union support staff, and unfortunately, decided that we cannot provide normal instruction during the strike day. **(Green Bay High School will be closed for instruction on this day).** There will also be a PPTA (teaching staff) nationwide strike from **1:15pm to 3:15pm on Wednesday, 5 November.** **(Green Bay High School will be closing early on this day)**. Parents/caregivers of YEAR 9 (and/or) YEAR 10 students who require supervision at school during days of strike action, are to please contact Deputy Principal [Sandy Begg](mailto:sandy.begg@greenbayhigh.school.nz) via email (or) ph 817-8173 ext 216 to make arrangements. Please note that students who are supervised at school will be working online and independently.
