##### Mandarin Speaking EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher Aide

A vacancy exists for a Mandarin-speaking EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher Aide to join our team, commencing Term 1, 2026, for 20 hours per week (times to be agreed).

This is a term-time only position.

Green Bay High School is seeking a part-time Chinese-speaking Teacher Aide to support Mandarin and/or Cantonese-speaking EAL students, as well as selected MELAA students who are at risk of not meeting NCEA expectations. The role includes in-class academic and language support, assisting learners to confidently engage with mainstream learning and wider school life, and strengthening communication with their families.

The successful candidate will possess skills in supporting English language learners in a NZ school context, assisting with enrolments and orientation for new families, communicating effectively with Chinese-speaking parents and caregivers, working collaboratively with teachers, and demonstrating cultural awareness, patience, initiative, and strong organisational skills.

You will be part of a dynamic and proactive team that works hard to support the EAL learners in our school.

To apply, please send a CV and cover letter to: [recruitment@greenbayhigh.school.nz](https://greenbayhigh.school.nz/news/term-4-2025/mandarin-speaking-eal/recruitment@greenbayhigh.school.nz)

The closing date for applications is 4 pm, Friday, 5 December 2025.

This role is classified under the Children’s Act (2014), and as such, the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory police vetting check.
