Accompanied by teachers Dr Angelo Tedoldi (Science, Chemistry, Biology) and Madeleine Collins (Science, Physics, Earth Space Science, Chemistry) students were very excited to meet with Dr Adam Martin at GNS and Dr David Warren at the Department of Chemistry at Otago University. As part of their ongoing WeSTEM investigations, the group also collected lichens from around Dunedin to test for air quality - with some interesting results! Students will be presenting their project results to WeSTEM alongside other schools involved at an upcoming Curious Minds Conference within the next few weeks. This is a great opportunity for our students to share their amazing work, build their presentation skills. WeSTEM is an initiative of Te Hononga Akoranga COMET and is funded by the Ministry of Pacific People’s Toloa Community Impact funds to increase Pacific people’s participation in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
