Who Dunnit? Year 9 Forensics students have collected and analysed evidence throughout the term in order to solve a crime. Deputy Principal Sandy Begg was 'kidnapped'. The class has accused teacher Dr Angelo Tedoldi of committing this crime and are determining his guilt in a mock trial - with the court currently in action as we 'speak'. Forensic Science is the application of science to a court of law. The evidence collected and analysed during an investigation can be used to determine what happened, find suspects, and either convict (find guilty) or exonerate (find innocent) those suspects. Forensic Science draws on skills from a wide range of scientific and investigative disciplines in order to gather evidence and to make reasoned, rational, and well-supported conclusions about the event. This course runs alongside Year 9 Core Science, whereby students gain experience in practical science, documenting results, and report writing while learning about different types of evidence, including DNA and blood, fingerprints, ink and drugs, shoe prints and more.
