Our 2026 Year 9 cohort has been invited to be part of the LIFECHANGER programme next term. LifeChanger is an organisation funded through the Cotton On Foundation, who work with young people to deliver preventative mental health programmes aimed at building social, emotional and resilience skills for life. Many of our students are familiar with LifeChanger, as several of our contributing primary and intermediate schools have their programmes running. At Green Bay High School, each Year 9 class will attend 3 one-hour sessions in the first three weeks of Term 4. They will work alongside one of the LifeChanger facilitators, their classroom teacher and two or three of our Year 12 mentors who completed the LifeChanger leadership and mentoring programme earlier this year. This is an exciting opportunity, and we are delighted to introduce this initiative to Green Bay High School this year. - Overcoming Barriers - Exploring some of the barriers that may hinder personal growth and discussing underlying causes of comparing themselves to others, while learning strategies to help shift this mindset. Students will also explore the importance of building positive connections and learn how resilience is a crucial component to enhancing their self-esteem. - The Power of Words - Understanding the impact that words can have on both themselves and others. Learning effective strategies to cope with rumours and gossip. Recognising and practicing the benefits of encouragement while fostering a culture of positivity and support to strengthen self-worth. - Values and Integrity - Identifying core values and the importance of integrity to strengthen self-esteem. Students will learn practical strategies to make decisions that align with their values, while understanding how these decisions can impact their wellbeing.
