This can look like a teacher aide, specialist, or professional advice for teachers. The need for learning support far outstrips provision - for every seven tamariki who access support, three miss out. Ministry of Education learning support staffing has a 16% vacancy rate. Teachers, education support staff, principals and learning support specialists agree on what is needed: • Increase the number of teacher aides • Increase the number of learning support specialists This is how the Government could really make a difference in education for tamariki.
