###### Tongariro National Park:

A bleary-eyed 5am start kicked off the Level 2 PEO Winter Camp to Tongariro National Park last Monday (21 August). Students were very keen to hit the slopes straight away, braving the wind and snow flurries to ski and snowboard at Whakapapa.

Day 2 included a Mountain Bike along the 15km Old Coach Rd with some stunning scenery such as Railway tunnels and Viaducts. Everyone enjoyed staying at the Navy Ski Lodge, in Ohakune, and working as a team to cook, clean, and get the fires cranking to ward off the below-zero temps!

Our final day dawned with a Bluebird day, allowing students to take to higher slopes on Mt Ruapehu and further extend their skills.

Highlights included Hamish’s Quiz night (which was hotly contested but taken out by The Sprinters), slopestyle jumps in Happy Valley, Muddy Mountain Bike Crashes, and Van Karaoke.

Thanks to staff members Geoff Hall and Hamish Mackay for supporting Health/PE teachers Anna Jolly and Matt Aslanian to organise a memorable and successful trip.
