The bus services will continue to operate, but only to Lain…' --- BUS DETOUR - message from AT effective 16 March 2026 ![road closure](https://greenbayhigh.school.nz/user/pages/04.news/term-2-2026/bus-detour-message-from-at/Home.jpg "road closure") # BUS DETOUR - message from AT Thursday, 12th March 2026 at 7:30am #### AT Engagement (AT) has provided the following information, as shared with our community via our school social media pages, last week. ***From MONDAY 16 MARCH bus services to Laingholm community will be limited in length due to a road closure. The bus services will continue to operate, but only to Laingholm School Bus Stop.*** There is currently **no funding available to put on additional bus services,** (Public Transport including school buses are subsidized by public funds) and parents will need to arrange for their child to wait for the bus at any bus stop along the route that will be serviced during the closure. **The Ministry of Education states that transport to and from school is the primary responsibility of the caregiver**. Where families live a long way from their closest school – or above a certain distance from their nearest Public Transport service, they may be eligible to apply for a conveyance allowance to help support the costs of driving their child to the nearest bus stop. Families can check their eligibility on [this website](https://www.education.govt.nz/school/property-and-transport/transport/sta-eligibility), and make an application if they feel they will fit the criteria. We have been in contact with the ministry and they have the information about the closures and will be looking out for any applications.
