Christmas Kindness

Students at GBHS are spreading Christmas goodwill to those less fortunate.
Christmas Kindness is a project that the GBHS Peace group has been doing annually for several years, previously named Shoebox Christmas. Students chose a charitable organisation and call upon the school community to donate Christmas presents to children who would otherwise go without.
"The school community responded really well, and we managed to fill five boxes," says Krisha Karippail (Year 9).
"We are really happy to be sending them off to the Women's Refuge today, to bring a bit of Christmas joy and cheer to others."
As part of the Christmas Kindness drive, students are given a list of children's ages and interests, as a guideline on what to donate. "Basically the idea is to think about something that you would have liked to receive as a kid," says Leah Buckland (Year 9).
"Ideally something that can fit in a shoebox, so it can be wrapped and sent to them," says Nanda Nair (Year 9).
